Why have you chosen to teach others Genealogy?
The first time someone’s eyes lite up as I taught a genealogy class and they “got it” I have been hooked on teaching. There’s nothing like sharing the joy with others as they learn how to begin researching their family and start discovering records, photos, and heirlooms. Teaching further methodologies to help move them up their trees and hopefully break down brick walls is exciting as I see “aha moments” on their faces. Why have I chosen to teach others genealogy? Because it’s addicting, and I love it!
What is your best piece of advice for someone just starting in Genealogy?
My best advice for someone just starting genealogy is education, education, education! Learn basic best practices and start off right. There are so many mistakes that can be avoided by taking time to learn how to do it correctly from the beginning. I promise it will save time and frustration in the long run!
Why should someone take your class?
My goal in every class is to provide an atmosphere of fun and learning. It’s important to make sure students are comfortable with the work, learning the precepts and enjoying the process no matter their skill level. My passion for genealogy work and joy of sharing years of experience with others combines to present a positive learning experience.
